Former Flagler County commissioner Joe Mullins is planning to run for Congress – when a special election to replace Michael Waltz is set.

Waltz, recently elected on Nov. 5 to a fourth term in Florida’s 6th District, has since been named by President-elect Donald Trump to be the next national security advisor. While Waltz has yet to formally resign, and could wait until the new administration takes over on Jan. 20, Joe Mullins will begin his campaign to replace Waltz. The dates of qualifying, the primary, and general elections will be determined by Florida Secretary of State Cord Byrd and Gov. Ron DeSantis.

As a proud supporter of Trump, Mullins is committed to doing everything he can to help the future President Donald Trump carry out his agenda.

“What I did while I was in office (as a county commissioner), I brought in a lot of federal money in grants through my national relationships,” Mullins said. “That has stopped since I left office.”
